Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026

1. Introduction

We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, how we secure it, and your rights regarding your data on the OpenRad registry platform.

2. Information We Collect

We only collect the minimum amount of information necessary to provide registry features to you:

  • Account Details: When you register on OpenRad, we collect your email address.
  • Platform Actions: We store records of your contributions to the site, including AI model submissions, edits, likes, or administrative reports (flagging a model).
  • Session Data: Temporary metadata related to your sign-in status to secure your connection.

3. How Your Information is Stored

OpenRad relies on Supabase (a secure cloud backend service) for user authentication and database management. Your email and password hashes are handled securely through Supabase Auth, conforming to industry-standard encryption practices. We do not store plain-text passwords.

4. Cookie Policy & Device Storage

No tracking or advertising cookies are used on this platform.

We utilize your browser's local storage (`localStorage` and `sessionStorage`) strictly for functional purposes that are necessary for the Service:

  • Authentication: Saving your encrypted login token to keep you logged in between visits. This is exempt from standard cookie banners as it is "strictly necessary" to provide the account features you requested.
  • UI Preference: Retaining your choice of Dark or Light mode theme.

5. Web Analytics (GoatCounter)

We measure website performance and traffic using GoatCounter, a privacy-focused web statistics tool.

  • GoatCounter does not use cookies to track visitors.
  • GoatCounter does not collect or store personally identifiable information (PII).
  • Visitor data (such as browser info and page visits) is completely anonymized and aggregated.

6. Sharing of Personal Data

We do not sell, rent, trade, or distribute your email or personal data to third parties. Data is shared exclusively with our technical hosting and database provider (Supabase) to operate the registry database.

7. Your Data Rights

Under regulations like the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you have the right to:

  • Request a copy of the personal data we store about you.
  • Request modifications to any incorrect personal data.
  • Request the **permanent erasure** of your account and all associated personal data from our systems.

To exercise these rights or request account deletion, please open a request on our GitHub issues page linked in the main navigation.
